Jan Wilson Chalon, AWPF
Congratulations go now to Jan Wilson Chalon who had not one, but two, successful Panels at the recent AWPF Assessments.

Our President, Linda Bell, being awarder her HonNWPA by Charles Meadows, Vice President. Congratulations from all of us in the NWPA, a well deserved award that Linda was honoured to receive, which left her speechless.

Print Battle Results - Held April 21st at Craig y Don
Our judge for the day was Mike McNamee, the Editor of The Societies' Professional Imagemaker magazine and also a member of the Birkenhead Photographic Association.
The event was opened by the NWPA President, Linda Bell, who welcomed all those attending.
Twelve clubs were taking part in the competition - each entering 8 prints making a total of 96 prints for Mike to judge and comment on.
Results:
1st Mold CC on 145 points
2nd Conwy CC on 143 points
3rd Deeside CC on 142 points
4th Hawarden CC on 141 points
5th Llandundo PS on 139 points
6th Beaumaris & Menai Bridge CC on 138 points
7th = Blaenau CC and Prestatyn CC on 137 points
9th Dwyfor CC on 134 points
10th Rhyl PS on 132 points
11th Ruthin CC on 130 points
12th Dyffryn Ogwen CC on 125
Congratulations go to Mold CC for winning the competition and to Chris Evans of Prestatyn CC who gained the Best Print Medal for 'The Tusk' - a superb monochrome image of the Chung Ku Chinese restaurant which was printed on Permajet Titanium Lustre paper.
NWPA Competition 2025
A date for the Diary
NWPA Competition June 7th 2025
As many of you are aware due to running costs, our annual Exhibition was not held last year, this
year we are running a competition for individual club members to enter and receive a little feed
back from the Judge on their images.
The competition will take place in Llandudno Craig y don community centre on the 7th June
2025.
Our Judge will be Ian Whiston DPAGB,EFIAP/p,FBPE,EPSA
a well known and respected Photographer and Judge. He will endeavour to comment on all the
images received. Images will be scored out of 20 and we will have a Trophy for the best image in
each section.
If you received a Trophy at the NWPA Exhibition could you arrange to have it returned to us by
March. You can do this via your club representative if they are attending the next Exec meeting
which is on Sunday the 2nd of March 2025
Due to the Judge being asked to comment on the Images we are proposing that you as an entrant
can enter 6 images in total over 3 sections. Mono, Colour and Nature.
You can choose to enter as PDI or Print or a mixture of the two. A maximum of 4 per section out
of your 6 images.
The Competition is a single Event in three Categories
• Monochrome
• Colour
• Nature
• Rules for entering the above competition
• The General Conditions for NWPA Competition Events are as
follows
• Eligibility
• The ENTRANT must be a paid up member of a photographic club or
society affiliated to the NWPA.
Individual members of all clubs affiliated with the NWPA may enter
any or all Categories of the Competition.
Images
Each Entrant is responsible for ensuring the eligibility of their
Images.Images previously entered into the NWPA Exhibition cannot be
reused. All images forming part of an entry must be originated by
photographic means by the author, who must hold the original copyright
of all such constituent parts,By entering the exhibition you give consent to
the NWPA to keep your email address and club details in our files. This is so
you can receive updates and results. The Competition is Free to enter
The selection date is Saturday June 7th at Craig y Don. Llandudno, doors will
open at 10am, A £3 entry fee on the door which includes Tea/coffee and
biscuits, and there will be our usual raffle.
The exhibition entry portal opening date will be sent out nearer the time with
instructions of how to use it. The rules for Mono, Nature and colour sections are
below
With the new additions of AI to software used to process our images please be aware
that generative fill using stock images is not allowed all parts of the image must be
your own.
Nature: You may crop, dodge, burn sharpen saturate or convert to
mono. You may clone out but you may NOT clone anything in. You may
not add any part of any other image into the finished image.
Open Colour: As it says OPEN but must show colour.
Open Mono: As it says OPEN, but must follow mono rules as follows:
Definition of a MONOCHROME image – ‘A Monochrome image is one
which has only a single tone e.g. cool, warm, sepia etc. A monochrome
image which has been modified by the addition of another colour/partial
tone is a colour image’... for eg Colour popping or adding a partial
coloured filter
PRINT DELIVERY
Prints can be brought along to the NWPA print battle (Date to be confirmed} in
Llandudno orally Eryri meeting held monthly also in Llandudno They can also
be Dropped of to Jan Wilson Chalon Nr Ruthin or Linda Bell in Northop Hall
